Presentation / History of the vehicle

At the end of the 50's, under the responsibility of the automotive engineer Dante Giacosa, Fiat launches the first Nuova 500. 13 HP engine in the rear position, 4 seats, the Fiat 500 is able to reach 90 km/h with a reasonable fuel consumption - for the times - of 4.5 liters per 100 km. Its light weight of less than 400 kg and an attractive price did not bring the expected success. Considered still expensive in relation to its performance, the brand's customers preferred to opt for the Fiat 600. And despite a few changes, in particular the production of the Economy model, which could reach 100 km/h, and the Super model, which had better options, sales did not take off.
So the idea of offering a convertible model came up. It was born in 1968. The Tetto Apribile conquered a large number of customers and became the best-selling car in Italy from its launch. This success quickly spread to other European countries. However, sales gradually declined and the company decided to stop production in the mid-1970s. It is only in 2007 that the "modern" Fiat 500 was reborn.
Today, the Fiat 500 remains the emblem of Italy throughout the world.

The 1969 Fiat 500 L that we offer for sale is powered by a 2-cylinder in-line engine of 499.5 cm3 developing 18 horsepower, allowing the car to reach 95 km/h.
In the same family since 1970, its current owner inherited it from her aunt in 2004. The vehicle has less than 52,000 km since its introduction, being rarely used in a family country house.

Note that this Fiat 500 L has been classified as a collector's vehicle in 2021.

General condition

The vehicle has been preserved as much as possible in its original state. The paint has nevertheless been redone. It is in very good condition. The bumpers are also in excellent condition.
The upholstery is the original one.

Following the last inspection, a general service of the car was completed in February 2022. The following operations were performed:
- Change of the front and rear wheel bearings
- Replacement of the 2 transmission bellows
- Replacement of the fuel hose between pump and carburetor
- Repair of the windshield washer control
- Engine oil change
The current wear of the tires is 40%.

Work to be done / Defects to be reported

This Fiat 500 L runs perfectly but the following work can be done if you want a perfect vehicle:
- Wear on the driver's door panel trim
- Small dent in the driver's side interior door panel
- Broken, but functional turn signal control end
- Slight dent on roof above driver's door
- Defective plastic seat belt push buttons (seat belts functional)
- Driver's side body trim clip needs to be replaced
- Driver's side roof strip missing

These defects are visible on the pictures for the sake of transparency.
Moreover, the chassis of the vehicle presents a superficial rust. This one has been examined by a specialist and shows no sign of perforation. It is possible to proceed to a preventive treatment (brushing and protection) for a budget of 1000 € maximum.
