The story takes us back to the beginning of the 60s, when Mercedes had to replace its legendary 300SL and 190SL. Thus the new generation of SL was presented in Geneva in 1963. Paul Bracq's magic pencil stroke is at the origin of this mythical model. After the 230 and 250, the more mature, reliable, and efficient 280 SL makes its appearance. Power and pleasure were really advancing thanks to its 2.8L six-cylinder developing 170hp. It will be this version that will pull the pagoda towards commercial success.
This 1971 Mercedes-Benz Pagoda 280 SL has a four-speed automatic transmission. It was imported 12 years ago from America to France. The five-digit odometer shows 8442 miles (13,586 km).
Less than 23,885 copies (18,681 vehicles went for export, including 12,927 in the United States) were produced until March 1971.
The interior is in perfect condition. The dashboard is exceptionally beautiful as well as the Cognac colored seats in excellent condition. The body is also in excellent condition. No bump or scratch to report.
