Ferrari 512 TR
The 512TR was more than just a restyled Testarossa. The looks had been updated into a more integrated shape but more than that power rose by 412 hp to give the new car a 314 km/h top speed. ABS was also made standard along with larger 18 inch wheels and an improved chassis to enhance the flagship’s handling.
To reflect the look of the highly successful F355, 1994 saw the 512TR become the 512M. Further restyling included a 355 style front valance and glass covered headlamps. Power went up again, this time to a mighty 422 hp.
This car has a 2 door coupé type body styled by Pininfarina with a mid mounted engine powering the rear wheels. The power is produced by a dry sumped naturally aspirated engine of 4.9 litre capacity. This unit features double overhead camshaft valve gear, 12 cylinder layout, and 4 valves per cylinder. It develops 422 of power at 6750 rpm, and maximum torque of 491 N·m (362 lb·ft/50.1 kgm) at 5500 rpm. Lubrication is of the dry sump-type. The power is transmitted to the wheels through a 5 speed manual gearbox. Having a stated weight at the kerb of 1471 kg, the Ferrari 512TR can dispense with the 0-60 mph sprint in 4.9 seconds and the quarter mile from rest in 13.2 seconds. Maximum speed claimed is 314 km/h or 195 mph.
