For Porsche enthusiasts, this is the best we can do. The venerable 911 has been in production for 53 years, but the “993" version lasted only four years: from 1994 to 1998. This collector's item was the last 911 equipped with an air-cooled engine. With its elegant style, compact dimensions and superb handling, combined with relative rarity, this car is very desirable. This particular 993 is a Carrera 2 Targa, that is, it has a rear-wheel drive and a retractable glass roof.
A 3.6-litre six-cylinder boxer engine is mounted just behind the rear axle of the 993. This 1996 car is equipped with the Varioram intake system, which increases power to 286 hp (previous cars have 272). It is also equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, rather than the less desirable Tiptronic semi-automatic... This allows the 996 to reach a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 275 kilometers per hour. Quite respectable statistics, even today.
The interior is upholstered in beige leather that extends from seat surfaces to door panels and dashboard, accented by black leather on the dashboard. The leather-wrapped steering wheel precedes a 300 km/h speedometer and a 7,600 rpm tachometer. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows just over 114,000 km. The 993 was the first 911 Targa with a sliding glass sunroof in place of a removable panel. So you can enjoy the sun at any time, while enjoying a style that barely stands out from that of the 911 coupe.
