The Mustang has established itself over the years as the myth of the US sports car. With a devastating look and an interesting reliability, the Mustang embodies the cruising GT spirit of the American car.
The '71 and '72 model years incorporate the latest modifications of the first generation Mustang. New grille, massive and square shapes, reinforced aggressiveness and especially the welcome under the hood of the biggest Ford V8 block. With this sporty spirit, the Mach 1 becomes in a way the descendant of the Mustang GT, even if it doesn't have the same aura. Indeed, its career starts at the same time as the GT disappears.
Concerning this Mach 1 Coupe, it differs from the convertible by its much sportier character and the practicality of the two small seats in the back. Its former US owner swapped the twin-barrel carburetor for a four-barrel, with a functional Ram Air intake. Thus equipped, it develops 290 hp instead of the original 250 hp. The VIN number specifies an H code, but it became an M code. This did not prevent the car from being homologated and obtaining a French collector's registration card (see the Expert's note).
The 5.7 liter 351 Cleveland engine has been restored. It has only travelled 14,000 miles since then. Apart from this positive change, this car is Matching Number but it is still possible to reinstall the original carburetor for the purists.
The technical inspection at the end of July 2021 is OK.
Excellent condition, comes out of the garage. 3500 € of work. New Grabber Yellow Ford paint, brown cloth and leatherette interior.
Ram Air, automatic transmission, power steering, radio, fully restored in the USA. New Firestone tires.
23000 km driven since its restoration + work done in France in july 2021 : silents blocks, steering ball joints, bellows, 4 shocks, new floor, brakes adjustment, alignment, carburetors and spark plugs cleaning, turn signals, tests (2500 €).
Oil change done and all fluids changed recently so that I can drive quietly and durably.
